Hair Stylist

We are looking for hair stylists to join our team! 

Our Goal:Implement, nurture, and reinforce a culture of high standards and accountability where the stylist's #1 job is getting customers to return.


  • Smile with sincerity and enthusiasm
  • Approach customers with a warm, friendly smile and a pleasant, energetic and friendly, manner; treat each customer as if he or she is your first of the day.
  • Provide a warm and welcoming greeting to every customer
  • Greet customers within 5 seconds using Great Clips greeting and eye contact.
  • At check-in, ask for the customer's name first to make the connection and then enter the name, address and phone number accurately into the computer; explain the reason for gathering the information and how it is used to make sure the customers are comfortable giving personal information to you.
  • Enhance customer comfort by always using front stations.
  • Explain to every new customer what to expect from their Great Clips experience.
  • Tell them about our system so they know what to expect
  • ask if they have questions
  • Thank every customer and invite them to return.

Stylists also must:

  • Dress accordingly to the apparel guidelines and maintain a professional appearance.
  • Keep their stations and equipment neat and clean; make sure lobby tables, display shelves and front desk are neat and clean so the salon is neat, clean and ready to serve our guests.
  • Share in cleaning responsibilities and complete any duties assigned.
  • Ensure that State Board [regulatory agency]/province rules are met at all times.
  • Handle cash and coupons appropriately and according to salon policy.
  • Attend and contribute to salon meetings so you are aware of any changes or new programs that may affect the customers.
  • Resolve customer complaints promptly and effectively by following salon procedures to ensure the customer's satisfaction and return to Great Clips.


Our Goal:Through proper staffing and scheduling, no customers will wait more than 15 minutes on weekends.


  • Embrace customer convenience by maximizing weekend schedules and other peak times.
  • Work weekend, evening and other shifts as requested.
  • Be available to work during black-out dates.
  • Understand every customer values low wait times.
  • Operate with a sense of urgency to meet customer expectations by maintaining an average service time of 12-17 minutes for haircuts.
  • Check customers in promptly communicate accurate wait times; work efficiently to reduce non-cut times between customers.
  • Take your turn greeting and checking in customers so customers in the chair don't feel inconvenienced.
  • Focus on the customer throughout the service, acknowledge and apologize for any interruptions, and confirm
  • Reinforce customers' confidence in having their hair cut by any stylist when they return
  • Introduce customers to other stylist in the salon.
  • Tell customers that they can feel free to come in any time because you have a team in your salon that can take care of them, regardless of when they come into the store.
  • Help customers fully understand online check-in better manager their wait times.
  • Have a complete understanding of how the online check-in service works.
  • Be able to explain the online check-in to the customer and how this service can help reduce the customer's wait time in the lobby.

Stylists also must:

  • Be ready to cut hair when the salon opens and accept customers ip until salon's posted closing times.


Our Goal:

Provide quality haircuts for all customers by consistently delivering the great Clips system


  • Review clip notes with the customers to enhance the consistency and quality of haircuts.
  • Begin the consultation by referring to previous clip notes in the computer for their next visit.
  • Complete consultation and receive approval using hand and mirror before starting each haircut.
  • Listen to the customer and confirm what the customer wants; use the hand mirror before beginning the service.
  • Attend required training and workshops so you are comfortable and confident in your ability to deliver our cutting and clipper system to every customer.
  • Ensure every customer receives a quality haircut by participating in frequent quality connections and using feedback to improve your skills.
  • Keep attention, including conversation with the customer and refrain from conversations with co-workers.
  • Maintain a professional conversation with the customer and refrain from conversations with co-workers.
  • Stay informed on products carried in the salon and on trends affecting the industry,
  • Enter or update clip notes to track information about the style the customer received and product that was recommended to help co-workers connect with the customer and provide great service on the customer and provide great service on the customer's next visit.
  • Talk product with the customer and recommend appropriate products.
  • Confirm satisfaction using hand mirror before they leave the chair.
  • Ask the customer if they have any questions about how to use the products or style their hair, and if they would like to buy any currently used or recommended products.

How success is measured:

Stylist Qualifications:

  • Current cosmetology or barber as required by state/province regulations
  • Commitment to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings
  • Dedication to great customer service
  • Commitment to follow the 5-step Customer connection with every customer, every time, in every salon.
  • Ability to cut hair for an extended period and provide quality haircuts in a fast-paced environment.
  • Skill to listen and understand what the customer issues
  • Skill to use a computer to track customer information
  • Ability to read and speak English

Stylist Physical Requirements:

  • Reaching: Extending hands and arms primarily at or above the shoulder
  • Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time
  • Frequent washing hands
  • Be able to lift up to 35 pounds
  • Hazards may include, but are not limited to slipping
  • Repetitive motions: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers
